How to Set Up cPanel Email Accounts on Outlook or Gmail App

To our hosting clients: we updated our servers and this means you need to reconfigure your email account in the Gmail app, Outlook, Zoho, or any other mail app where you added your company emails.

Key Details to Note:

  • Server/Hostname has changed from h̶o̶s̶t̶3̶9̶.r̶e̶g̶i̶s̶t̶r̶a̶r̶-̶s̶e̶r̶v̶e̶r̶s̶.c̶o̶m̶  to mail.yourdomain.com 
  • Port numbers remain the same 
  • Your password is the same. 
  • Connection type the same: SSL/TLS

There are TWO methods to update your email account. The first one is to REPAIR (update) the existing email account. This is only possible for the Windows/Laptop application. 

The second is to REMOVE the email account and add it back with the new details. You will use this method when updating your email account on your smartphone Outlook/Gmail app. DON’T WORRY, Your emails won’t be gone forever.

Let’s start with the first method. On your Outlook app, Click the Setting icon on the top right.

Click Manage next to the account you want to update.

Scroll down and click the REPAIR button. Then you will be asked to re-enter the configuration details such as password, server link/name, and ports. This is where we are going to point our email to the right server.

The pictures above show I added my email to Windows Outlook. Observe that the username is YOUR EMAIL, incoming/outgoing server is MAIL.YOURDOMAIN.COM.

My domain is shukuruamos.com, so my mail server is mail.shukuruamos.com. Therefore, what is your mail server? Hope you get it.

Method TWO.

Usually, the Gmail app will prompt you to re-enter your details (password, server, ports,SSL) if something on the server has changed. If you receive that, it will be like the first method above. You just update the details. But if you don’t receive the message to update your info, you must Remove/Delete the email account from the Gmail or Outlook app. Then Add the account again.

Remember, your emails will all be back once you add the email back.

After Clicking Add Another Account, Select OTHER when adding your email. Then Select IMAP as the type of email.

Select MANUAL SETUP so you can effectively add the detail. From there you can enter the information accordingly.

Conclusion.

Your email account on the incoming and outgoing server should be in the following format: mail.example.com. Your username should be your full email address, and your password is the one you use for your email account. The incoming port should be set at IMAP 993. The outgoing mail server or SMTP should use port 465.
